India is hosting 2010 Commonwealth Games in its capital city, Delhi . The Commonwealth Games is a multinational event that is held every four years amongst all the commonwealth nations worldwide. 31 types of sports are played during this event with 71 teams coming from 53 different countries participate in the games.

Delhi being the host city is undertaking an infrastructural face-lift.Transportation and infrastructure facilities in the city has been hugely improved. Of course, what is most important the Games will leave behind significantly improved, first-rate sports amenities and conveniences that Indian sportspersons can use for generations. The XIX Commonwealth Games will see a host of events featuring seventeen sports - Aquatics (Swimming, Synchronised Swimming and Diving), Archery, Athletics (Track and Field, Road Walk and Marathon), Badminton, Boxing, Cycling Track, Road Mass Start and Road Time Trials), Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic), Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby 7's, Shooting (Pistol, Small Bore, Full Bore and Clay Target), Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.

The XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi are scheduled from 3 October to 14 October, 2010. This is the best time to travel to Delhi, which has average daytime temperatures of 22°C (71.5°F) in October. The 2010 Commonwealth Games are the nineteenth Commonwealth Games, and the ninth to be held under that name. The Games are scheduled to be held in Delhi, India between 3 October and 14 October 2010. The games will be the largest multi-sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India generally, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. It will also be the first time the Commonwealth Games will be held in India and the second time the event has been held in Asia (after 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
